Howdy! I’m Moriah!

Weddings have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My parents were both admired teachers who were often invited to former student's weddings, so I had been to dozens before I even started working in the industry! I loved observing the beauty of these events and became completely enthralled with weddings when my older sister got married when I was 10. Keeping up with her wedding plans was so much fun that I started planning fake weddings after school (and sometimes during school!)
After running a successful wedding florist for nearly 4 years then being a venue manager and wedding planner for a year, I decided to start my own business focused on joy, inclusion, and unique wedding planning. I am a planner by nature at any given moment I have at least 3 planners/calendars nearby, so I honestly don’t know why it took me so long to realize I was meant to be a wedding planner!
Some more about me:
I have a cat named Smokey who is my entire world and has completely taken over my camera roll.
I love sports and have season tickets to the Rockies and Broncos.
I tend to speak in pop culture references (thank you Gilmore Girls)
I love all things vintage, so you'll probably see me in a 50's style dress and my cateye glasses!
JayBird Events is named after my father, Stephen Jay Nelson, who passed away unexpectedly in 2021.
He was a lover of all things outdoors including white water rafting, fishing, camping, and hiking. From a very young age he taught me all about recycling and always leaving the environment I was in "better than you found it."
